Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information WebScan: Dual Chat App ("WebScan", "the app", "we") handles, why, and the choices you have. In short: we do not run accounts, we do not have a server that receives your chats, and we do not sell your data. The app shows ads from Google AdMob and sells optional subscriptions through Google Play; those Google services collect some data as described below.
1. Your chats and the web chat services
WebScan opens the official web versions of chat services (such as WhatsApp Web and Telegram Web) inside a built-in browser. When you link an account by scanning a QR code or entering a code, you sign in directly with that service. Your messages, contacts, calls and media travel between your phone and that service only. They are never sent to us. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Information you enter to use a chat service. Some features send information you type or pick to the chat service, at your request:
- Phone numbers: when you start a chat with a number in Click to Chat, or link your account with a phone number instead of a QR code, that number is sent to the chat service to open the chat or link the account.
- Messages, photos, videos, voice notes and files that you send in your chats are sent to the chat service, just as in its own app or website.
This data goes from your phone directly to the chat service over an encrypted connection. It is not sent to us, we do not store it on any server, and we do not sell it or use it for advertising. Numbers you recently used in Click to Chat are remembered only on your phone.
WebScan is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by WhatsApp, Meta, Telegram or any other messaging service.
2. Information stored only on your phone
To make its features work, the app keeps the following on your device. None of it is uploaded to us.
- Sign-in sessions of the web chat services (browser cookies and storage), so you stay linked.
- Settings and preferences, such as theme, app lock, privacy options, quick replies, reminders and chat wallpapers.
- Kept deleted messages, if you turn that feature on: the text of messages deleted in your chats is saved on your phone so you can read it later.
- Statuses and media you choose to save, stored in your phone's storage or gallery.
- Backups: if you use Backup, a file is written to a location you pick. You decide where it goes and who gets it.
Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes this information. Media you saved to your gallery stays until you delete it.
3. Permissions the app asks for
- Camera: to scan QR codes and for video calls in the web chat service. Images are processed on your phone.
- Microphone: for voice notes and calls in the web chat service, only when you use them.
- Notifications: to tell you about new messages and reminders.
- Alarms and start at boot: so the reminders you set go off on time, also after a restart.
- Foreground service: keeps your account connected in the background so new-message notifications arrive.
- Internet: to load the web chat services and ads.
- Photos and files, picked by you through Android's system picker: to read a QR code from an image or restore a backup.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of WebScan shows ads served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect and process:
- your device's advertising ID, device model, operating system and app version;
- your IP address and the approximate location derived from it;
- ad interactions (views and taps) and diagnostic data.
Depending on your choices and location, ads may be personalised. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent with Google's consent form before showing personalised ads, and you can change your answer at any time in Settings > Ad privacy choices. Anywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your phone's settings (Settings > Google > Ads or Settings > Privacy > Ads).

WebScan Pro subscribers do not see ads, and the ads SDK is not started for them.
5. Purchases (Google Play Billing)
Subscriptions are bought and managed through Google Play. Google processes your payment details; we never see your card or bank information. The app only receives confirmation from Google Play that your subscription is active, so it can unlock Pro features. Manage or cancel in Google Play > Payments & subscriptions.
6. What we do not do
- We do not receive or store your name, phone number, email, contacts or messages on any server of ours. What you send to a chat service goes only to that service, as described in section 1.
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not use analytics or tracking tools of our own.
7. Data sharing and security
The only third parties that receive data through the app are Google (AdMob and Google Play), as described above, and the chat services you choose to sign in to, which receive the phone numbers, messages and media you send to them. Network traffic uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Information kept on your phone is protected by Android's app sandbox, and you can add the app's own lock in Settings.
8. Children
WebScan is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The web chat services set their own minimum ages.
9. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data on our side, there is nothing for us to export or delete: all app data lives on your phone and is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall it. For data processed by Google, use the controls in your Google account or contact Google. If you are in the EEA, the UK or another region with data-protection rights, you may contact us with any request or question and we will help.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The new version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
